Arthur F. S. Steele, M.D.

Dr. Steele was born in Portland in 1944. He graduated from North Eugene High School, Oregon State University, and the University of Oregon Medical School. He spent 2 years in the Indian Health Service in Santa Fe, New Mexico during the Viet Nam war. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Oregon in 1975, joining Dr. Flaxel in practice in North Bend.

The practice was blessed with success and growth, so the Bay Eye Clinic was founded at its present location in 1979. Over the years, the practice has matured into the center for medical and surgical eye care on the South Coast, with 4 outstanding physicians. It has been very gratifying to see the evolution of the clinic over the last 30 years.

Dr. Steele and his wife, Lynne, retired in 2005 and moved to Portland. He has 2 children and 7 grandchildren in the Portland area. He is an avid cyclist, keeps busy with a Christmas tree farm, and works part time for the VA in Portland. His 30 years of practice in the Bay Area will always be among his fondest memories.
